The Chateau de Versailles has been written about more times than I can count, but like any good travel writer, I have to add my 2 cents even if it’s only in photos and a short architectural overview of this fabulous place. Hopefully, these photos of the main palace will temp you to visit also, because the Palace at Versailles is one of those sites you simply shouldn’t miss!

Even A French King Needs To
Get Away Sometimes!

Many people, who visit the fabulous Chateau de Versailles just outside of Paris, do not have the time to visit the chateau’s two smaller palaces, the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon.  On this visit, I planned to focus on getting out to these two petite gems.

From love-nest to a Queen’s get away, the Petit Trianon was an oasis of privacy and intimacy for royals who needed to escape the rigid formality of court life at the Palace of Versailles and on this misty day, I was happy to be able to explore some of the rooms in this cozy get-away palace.
